I have a confession to make: vampires aren't too interesting to me (vampire hunters on the other hand...) and it has little to do with Twilight's popularity and the glut of vampire media. The slow-moving Near Dark has a lot of good action and horror elements in it, I like the connection to James Cameron movies, and when compared to Twilight, it's a masterpiece.

Its story involves a group of traveling vampires making a human (Adrian Pasdar) one of their own. So, this is also a bit of a road movie ie Easy Rider and Two Lane Blacktop, which is unfortunate because a lot of road movies (even the good ones) are boring.

There is one cool bar scene that reminded me of Highlander, in which immortals can be shot, but they will not stay down. Near Dark is an okay movie. It's not scary, but I don't think director Kathryn Bigelow intended it to be.
