Review of Near Dark (1987) by Mark N — 12 Aug 2012
Fun twist on a modern vampire nest tale with some interesting ideas but ultimately doesn't do enough with the premise to make it anything more than watchable and lacking any standout scenes or performances.
Bigelow never seems to manage to excel as a director and while she hits the marks on tone and solid camerawork her films are always lacking in the finesse or visual imagination to make them memorable.
