Impressive and ambitious film with some many symbolic layers one could study it for years. People are right to compare it to Blade Runner for its 80s film feeling and general concepts but this film leans more towards the romantic side and the Eastern filmmaking influences.
It took a few watches to really appreciate it so if you don't like it the first time around - give it another chance.
