Review of Natural Born Killers (1994) by Pepe C — 09 Jan 2012
The most controversial films of the 90s and one of the most controversial films of all time in it's depiction of the exploitation of social media and the corruption of the masses. "Natural Born Killers" is not for the faint of heart and I can also see the potential danger of mentally disturbed individuals misinterpreted actions causing danger to society.
The film is a barrage of visual horrors and is artistically formed and molded at Oliver Stone's will to portray a society that thrives and relishes in the violence, sexuality, and anything that is deemed "news worthy".
Woody Harrelson gives a terrific and terrifying performance as does Juliette Lewis but It's Robert Downey Jr. who gives an over the top performance (representing the media collectively) that really drives the point home.
This is a film that I wouldn't consider "fun viewing" but rather essential for those that can find and appreciate Stone's message and talent in technique.
