Review of National Treasure (2004) by Seth S — 13 Jul 2012
This is a classic for me, I've seen it countless times, and it never gets old. I love it, its clever, funny, has action, and acknowledges history.
The story is of Ben Gates. His family has been looking for the Templar Treasure for generations. Ben is close to finding it, but millionaire Ian Howe is standing in his way. He wants the treasure as well, and will kill to get it. So Ben, along with his sidekick Riley and doctor Abigail Chase finishes his quest to find the treasure. Oh, and he must steal the Declaration of Independence if he wants any hope of finding it.
Nicolas Cage stars as Ben. He is not as crazy as usual, and Ben is a fun character. Justin Bartha steals the movie with his performance as Riley. He is incredibly funny, and Bartha is a good actor. Sean Bean is villainous as Ian Howe, good to see Sean Bean not playing a fantasy warrior for a change. Diane Kruger stars as Abigail. She plays what she is given well. Jon Voight and Harvey Keitel also star, rounding out this exceptional cast.
Overall, this movie is fun and smart. It's entertaining and a real classic for me!
"To those who did what was considered wrong, in order to do what they knew was right." 8.5/10.
