Review of National Lampoon's Vacation (1983) by Deb S — 23 Nov 2011
Cinemax - 11/23/2011.
Chevy Chase is perfect as the hapless father determined to give his family the best vacation possible by driving out to Wally World Amusement Park in California. Clark refuses to fly because he says "getting there is half the fun!" His determination to get there catapults the family headlong into a series of misadventures where anything that could possibly go wrong does! Stopping for obvious tourist attractions such as the "House of Mud," does nothing to help this trip. And neither does the sexy little blonde (played by Christie Brinkley) in the red hot sports car who distracts Clark so badly that his brains turn to Jell-O.
Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo, and Randy Quaid are all a hoot. The cranky Aunt Edna (Imogene Coca) who tagged along for the trip is unforgettable, as well as John Candy as a Security Guard for Wally World!! A young and voluptuous Beverly D'Angelo and Christie Brinkley swimming nude make it an added pleasure for the guys.
