Review of Nashville (1975) by Patrick B — 22 Aug 2008
With apologies to MASH and McCabe and Mrs. Miller, I consider this to be Robert Altman's masterpiece. It will make you laugh 30 seconds before it breaks your heart. Lily Tomlin's performance is the standout in an amazing ensemble cast.
It is a great American film, and one that described the awkward era after Vietnam and Watergate, where the US struggled to cope with its new identity.
