Review of Nashville (1975) by James C — 31 Oct 2007
If you want to see why Robert Altman is one of the key figures in American Cinema then watch this film which is his first masterpiece.
The different story strands and overlapping dialogue may put you off but dont let it.
What you have here is Altmans take on an America still coming to terms with Watergate and Vietnam.
The soundtrack is amazing too and the cast is all round brilliant.
Its easy to see where P.T.Anderson drew his inspiration from with films Like Magnolia and Boogie nights both which follow Altmans elements here.
