Review of Narc (2002) by Cole S — 09 Dec 2007
I have mixed feelings about this movie. I'd like to first say that this is one of those movies you might rent as a random movie cause you've probably never heard of it before hand. That was the case with myself and I have to say, it was worth the rent. There are some really strong points I'd like to start with.
The overall dark (literally) feel of the movie really is a testament to the overall movie. This dark overtones sets the mood and pace perfectly and kept me glued to the TV. The acting was very well done, but at times did get a bit over the top and fake. The overall story was well presented, with a renegade cop and ex-cop coming together for two different reasons. Suspicions between the two cops come to a head making for an excellence climax to the movie. There are a few things that did detract from the experience for me though.
Though quite riveting, the story did hit a few snags along the way that took away from the overall experience. Plot twists that seemed too over the top left me disappointed. The spots where the acting became cheesy also took away from a fairly good movie. Don't let my rating fool you though, it is definetly a solid 3 star movie, it just needed a few more things to really send it to the top.
