Review of Nanook of the North (1922) by Oliver E — 20 Mar 2013
The most through-provoking documentary I've ever seen. What I think is so great about Nanook is that it doesn't have a point to prove, it doesn't have a reason to show certain things or not show certain things, it doesn't mislead the audience, it strives to convey the same honesty and candidness that it's subject embodies.
Not only is it arguably the first documentary film ever made, it's probably one the best documentaries ever made as well.
