Review of Nanking (2007) by George H — 11 Apr 2008
This documentary is extremely well done, and highlights an issue that is a large gap in the knowledge of many Americans. It details the events of the massacre mainly through the eyes of a handful of people.
It stays objective, while simultaneously weaving a narrative through it. It realizes that there is no need to preach, and it doesn't. The only fault that I can see with NANKING is in creating a story around the westerners, it often loses sight of the massacre itself.
A little more focus on context might have been helpful.
