Review of Naked Lunch (1991) by Matthew M — 11 Feb 2009
Hard to describe this one in one word. I feel though that the main idea was about the drugs and the death of his wife. The main idea of going to a foreign country and being controlled by bugs was really out there but it had less of an impact on the actor.
The whole film was so weird and really blew my mind. I enjoyed it thought something really different and original. The asshole story was one of the weirdest monologues I have ever heard. The sex bug was so bizarre as well as the gizzum farm of mudwamps.
. Just explaining this film is so fun lol even Roy Scheider who is not in the film for much makes a hilarious entrance. A woman suit randomly turns in to him. I guess if you had to put the film in a perspective of a person who says hey whats Naked Lunch I would say this "it is a film starring Peter Weller, and Roy Scheider directed by David Cronenberg about a man with a severe drug problem who hallucinates but instead of being a nobody he writes.
" then I would say if you think Fear and Loathing was bizarre and a drug trip check out this film cause it blows the other one away. I mean they were more about what is was like being high all of the time but this is what happens when drugs take over your mind.
