Review of Naked Lunch (1991) by Matty S — 21 Dec 2013
Who could have imagined that a filmmaker would be clever and bold enough to turn William S. Burrough's ground-breaking and controversial novel into a film. In fact, Cronenberg manages to not only adapt the novel but interlaces it with references to Burrough's own life.
This may be one of the most effective films at capturing the vibe and feel of the Beat Generation. Haullcinatory and surreal, NAKED LUNCH is unforgettable. Shore's musical score is exceptional. And, Peter Weller is astonishing as Burroghs.
