Review of Nacho Libre (2006) by Harrison B — 10 May 2015
Nacho Libre! It is a silly and stupid film, and it works. Jack Black's style is made better with the help of comedic director Jared Hess, and consequently, there is far more subtle humour akin to Napoleon Dynamite, rather than its inferior-in-every-way; School of Rock.
Jack Black is anything but subtle, but this "Mexican" styled film pokes fun of itself as well as all ideas involved. By not taking itself completely too seriously, it is a joy to join the silliness and forget about formulas and methods, and the dos and don'ts of comedy.
It's outrageous, and for good reason has created a silly sub-culture.
