Review of Mystic River (2003) by Jayden R — 13 Jan 2013
I can't believe I waited so long to watch this movie again. Mystic River is a great, somber, emotional tale that unravels on top of superb acting on the part of its awesome cast. Sean Penn and Tim Robbins definitely deserved their own respective Oscars for this one as they show the audience just how good they really can be.
Kevin Bacon is also great and the sub-plot about him and his wife doesn't seem tacked on and unfolds quite nicely. This movie has an amazing atmosphere that helps capture the depressing and visceral nature of the film and the ending is nothing short of spectacular.
I would probably rank this as one of Eastwood's best directed films. Its hard hitting, depressing, serious, impactful and a great watch overall!
