Review of Mystic River (2003) by Maoyue O — 22 Jun 2013
This film is about a murder mystery that involves three men that have been friends since childhood. They all begin to seek justice among each other, but only one of them is entitled to act on behalf of the law.
Clint Eastwood's film is a unique vision which at once recalls the atmosphere and psychology of film noir with the structure of westerns, and takes it to a modern day setting. The result is Mystic River, a powerful thriller drama, gripping and compelling throughout, with great performances by the excellent cast, excellent careful cinematography and an intelligent and well balanced screenplay.
