Review of Mystic Pizza (1988) by Melissa W — 26 Jun 2011
3: This was not what I was expecting, as I figured it would be a ho-hum 80's romantic comedy. It would have to fall into that genre, but it's really the story of three friends as they try to figure out what to do with their lives, which is definitely not how romantic comedies - at least more contemporary versions - work.
Solid performances and a genuine seeming script, cast, locations, etc are what make it work. Nothing seems forced or artificial here, even though it definitely is.
