Review of Mystery Train (1989) by Nancy J — 06 Jan 2010
Wow. this is by far the best of jim jarmusch that i've seen. everything that he does right in Night on Earth and Coffee and Cigarettes is just as good here (character, atmosphere, dialogue). But in this one, everything comes together in the end, and there's a lot more of a thematic connection than in his other movies (unless you consider coffee, cigarettes, and taxis to be themes). Plus fucking Joe Strummer.
There's a lot to digest after seeing this, and I'll definitely be watching again.
