What an oddball film this is, but quite good fun all the same. When the best superhero in the city finds himself out of super villains to fight, he has one released from prison so he can do battle once more. Unfortunately, he is captured instead, and it is up to a ragtag group of wannabe superheroes to save the day.

With an overabundance of superhero films nowadays, it is refreshing to see one with such a bizarre sense of humour, rather than resorting to tired teenage angst and glamourised violence. Okay, certainly Kick Ass looks better than this film, but Mystery Men gets points for creativity. I particularly enjoyed Eddie Izzard's role as classic bad guy henchman, while there is a show from Michael Bay in front of the camera. What the?

Somewhat average, but entertaining.
