Review of My Sister's Keeper (2009) by Jason E — 21 Oct 2012
This movie was quite disappointing. I read the book and when I heard that they were making a movie I was so excited. So I waited and as soon as I could I saw the movie. I of course having read the book first noticed all the differences such as the omission of some characters and the addition of others.
The changing of genders for the judge, etc. However, these were all minimal and I found myself still able to enjoy the movie that is until it came to the end, the part I was most looking forward to seeing how they would play out, the part that made the book so great, the reason most people probably wanted to see this movie and what did we all get? They changed the ending! Completely changed the ending.
At the part I thought I'd be in tears I instead found myself angry and couldn't believe that I had been so excited over it. Had I not read the book, I will admit the movie would have been alright, but I did read the book and I have not been able to watch the movie past that first time.
To those of you that thought this movie was fantastic I would urge you, if you have not already done so, to pick up the book and read it and see if your opinion changes. Regardless of whether or not it does at least you might understand where those of us that were disappointed in this film are coming from.
Thanks!
