MY OWN PRIVATE IDAHO is a visually impressive piece with well realized characters and flashes of inventiveness that Gus Van Sant has yet to equal, the scene with the gay porno mags coming to life on the shelves being a highlight.
The problem is that it's inconsistent and felt downright boring at times. I feel my mood was a factor, as it demands a second viewing before my thoughts can be considered worth taking away on this one.
