Review of My Old Lady (2014) by S1R-R34L — 10 Mar 2017
This is much more than a comedy, which the trailer tries to make out it is. The first section of the film is indeed funny, though as the film progresses the humour becomes darker as we take a trip into the human psyche.
What Izrael Horovitz gives the audience is a brilliant insight into family and how well do you really know them? He also gives you the moral of, whatever you do in life it has a consequence and it may not be a good one.
Even though the film gets a little darker, it does only slip into a bittersweet melancholy and doesn't go so dark that people will turn off and the director does the change so subtly, within the story, you barely notice the change; it's so natural.
I really liked this film. Well worth a watch.
