Review of My Name Is Khan (2010) by Mark M — 23 Jun 2011
I would call this a "MUST SEE" film!
A terrific movie; though the story is completely different, I would liken this movie to another terrific film, "Life Is Beautiful".
If one looks at the film from a perspective of literal plausability, it will fall short...but looking deeper, there is so much in the film that resonates true and real. Shah Rukh Khan is absolutely fantastic in the title role--so good, that, until doing a little research on him, I thought he actually had Asperger's Syndrome. He is a superstar in Bollywood, but I hope we will begin seeing a lot more of him in the US.
I also highly recommend the soundtrack--some wonderful music.
The only sour note in the film was the way, way over the top depiction of anti-Muslim bigotry in the US after 9/11--the severity of incidents portrayed was not justified by real events.
