Review of My Name Is Bruce (2007) by Adam D — 12 Mar 2009
Bruce Campbell plays himself in this film as an aging b-movie star cursed to act in endless sequels of the most craptucular series of films to have been filmed. When a group of goths unwittingly unleash Guan-Di, the Chinese God of bean curd (because the Chinese have a God for everything, and which also suggests that the sequel to this film might feature an evil God from the 330 million strong pantheon of the Hindoo Gods, a divine force so overstaffed that there would be a God for everything, and then a God for every Chinese God for everything and still a number of Gods left, portfolio pending), the lone survivor must stop him with the help of his hero, the star of films such as Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, Evil Dead : Army of Darkness and Bubba Ho-Tep. Bruce Campbell.
Little does the goth know that the man behind the half man - half chainsaw persona of Ash is a cowardly movie star. Can Bruce redeem himself? Will the town of Gold Lick be saved?
