Review of My Name Is Bruce (2007) by Elaine M — 15 Mar 2009
Cult horror actor Bruce Campbell is wasting away; he's out of a marriage, and fading out of the movie industry, working only on seriously low-budget horror tack such as 'Cave Alien 2'. When a real monster starts killing off the residents of the small town of Goldlick, Oregon, the mayor enlists Bruce's help, thinking he is really an action hero.
It's always great to see a cool actor take the piss out of himself and all his movies, and Bruce Campbell was the perfect guy for it. There are tonnes of references to come great Campbell movies, and some pretty funny moments, but it really could have been a lot funnier than it was.
The plot is awful, just as it's meant to be, but seeing as comedy is all this film has going for it, it's a real shame it couldn't have been better...
