Review of My Mother's Castle (1990) by Julian H — 13 Jul 2008
A splendid bookend to "My father's glory", with the same fine cast as before, and more of the same arresting personal stories. Nothing can prepare you for the end, which was aching and touching.
This, more than anything, is a film about what growing up means, and how those who've gone before and passed away still shape us. Growing up, one sees, can sometimes catch you by surprise. I also cannot recommend this film highly enough--but watch "My father's glory" first!
