Review of My Man Godfrey (1936) by Yasmin U — 10 Sep 2007
Carol Lombard is luminously darling (a "beautiful clown" to quote some reviewer somewhere: Jean Harlow wasn't the only one) and William Powell is, in Lombard's character's words, "so cute in an apron"!!!
Very well-written, superb comic acting, my favorite is the "bad" sister (who I thought had far more sexual chemistry with Powell, but that's another story). I'm not sure if I agree with the final pairing of the love triangle, but I like the message of not being too proud . . . or you might get stuck with your protegee!
