Review of My Man Godfrey (1936) by Mike M — 04 Feb 2008
A rich airhead (Carole Lombard) hires a homeless man (William Powell) as butler for her crackpot family, and he turns out to be just the man for the job - though he has a few secrets. This is easily one of the finest comedies I've seen; I was snickering from start to finish.
Line after line of brilliant dialogue, perfectly delievered by a lively cast. I dare say that this is Powell's finest role - yes, he's even better than in the Thin Man movies. I simply can't recommend this highly enough.
