Review of My Man Godfrey (1936) by David C — 05 Jun 2008
One of the greatest comedies ever made. A classic in every sense of the term. One of the original screwball comedies. William Powell is at his best and it may very well be Carole Lombard's finest screen performance.
If I had to recommend one example of perfect comedy in film, that is not "Some Like It Hot" or a Marx Bros. movie, this would be that film. Underrated and, unfortunately, little known about by the public, as it is difficult to find a copy.
