Review of My Little Pony: The Movie (2017) by Andrea G — 09 Oct 2017

The animation was fluid, the music was pretty good though not truly memorable, the new characters where fun and had decent amount of establishment for the time they had on screen. The cuteness meter is pretty much obliterated in nearly every scene~!!

How ever the story was very predictable, but in truth I believe that wasn't even the focus of the movie. The journey through this new area of their world, the interactions with all the new things in the settings and their population, along with the reactions from our heroes and they went forward was the focus. But I can't say it was a bad focus for they gave us was quite pleasing. From believable interactions with our well known heroes with all around, the new characters, as obvious as their roles are going to be, show actual conflicts and hesitations at times making them a bit more than "JUST THAT CLICHE CHARACTER".

Overall, it was a well made movie, the effort and emotion can be seen and felt throughout the film. It's not a perfect film by any means, and rather obvious on the age group it wants to go for making it a bit hard for non brony adults to want to sit and watch the whole thing. Unless they like cuteness in large amounts, they will probably not want to watch this right of the bat.

I for one enjoyed it even with the predictable scrip. I was hoping from the music but it gave me some good tunes to hum once it was all over. I recommend at least a watch if not for the road trip movie to save everyone with a large side of cuteness, then watch it for the amazingly fluid animation and art if that peaks your interest.
