Review of My Little Pony: The Movie (2017) by Andrew K — 14 Oct 2017
The movie is a good family film. The animation is excellent and a real step up from the show toon boom Harmony is an excellent program and the animators used it to perfection. The characters were excellently executed by the voice actors.
The Mane 6 we're excellently written and each one was used expertly. This is not to say that the story did not have some problems. It can feel rushed and not flushed out enough at the same time. There are some things I would have done different or at least I would have like to seen done differently.
This is however a great family film and if they allow it to be Cannon eighth grade expansion of the world which would open up some real opportunities in the next couple of seasons. If you are not a fan of the show this movie will not be as good for you.
It is not a bad movie and it is a great family film however this is a road that has road that has been trodden many times and lacks any real surprises. There are moments that you will genuinely enjoy and the songs are catchy not quite Disney level but a few are fairly close and to be honest with a couple of exceptions it is the best songs of the entire franchise.
If you are a fan of the show this is an absolute must-see.
