After watching the movie I could tell the critics aren't fans of the show. The movie itself was fine in my opinion.
The villain (the Storm King) felt weak and had a childish personality. A big part of me thinks hasbro should have saved Tirek for this movie. Tempest had more screen time, a better personality, and a clear motivation.
The mane 6 had some moments where I also wanted to mentally facepalm but I just kept telling myself this is a movie meant for kids not adults and made it easier to watch.
The animation was well done and the effects were beautiful and I loved all the references as well as the many comedic moments that had me and my friends chuckling at this film. It could've been better if the movie used more characters from the show too like Discord.
If you are a fan of the show you will enjoy this movie.
