Review of My Little Pony: The Movie (2017) by Rd S — 05 Oct 2017
It was so nice to see 2-D animation on the big screen again and it certainly shines here. The animation is flowing, the eyes in particular are incredibly expressive, and the writing and humor is on point. That's not even before mentioning the musical compositions at hand. If you are a fan of the show, you will certainly dig the offerings given. If you've never seen the show, you might just become a fan of the "Mane 6" due to the balance of characterization between them. There are some great performances from some of the "guest celebrities" as well, many of whom do a fine job at masking their "recognizable voice" from audience members. The movie is also quite a bit darker than the show at times, which can unfortunately be very lacking from today's children's fare.
I would put it as a definite recommendation to any fan of animation (particularly traditional Disney-style musicals), family films, or just entertaining movies in general.
