Review of My Little Pony: The Movie (2017) by James Patrick M — 11 Oct 2017

When I first heard this movie was coming out I was very skeptical. But after seeing it, I was surprised how good it actually was. I never got into the tv show, but I know that it's grown a very big following, thanks to it pretty animation, good characters, fun writing, and messages about friendship.

And... yeah I can see where they are coming from. My Little Pony The Movie is a fun adventure. The 2D animation is beautiful. It's fast, cartoony and mixes well with the CGI elements. It has a cast of colorful characters, (both figuratively and literally).

Consisting of familiar faces from the show, and a slew of new characters with celebrity voices. There are some genuinely funny moments, some ironically funny moments, and some cringe worthy moments. The songs in this movie are decent.

Some are better than others and they are VERY catchy. And the message, while pretty forced, is a good message. Obviously this movie is not gonna please everyone and it's not perfect, but I had a better time at this than The Emoji Movie.

If your a fan of the show, you have kids that want to see it, or if you miss 2D films on the big screen, then you'll like this fine.
