Review of My Life in Ruins (2009) by Neil T — 16 Nov 2009
I'm afraid I'm in the minority when I say that I actually liked this movie. Granted, it's not going to win any awards, but I found it to be light hearted, and one of those movies you can just kick back and watch.
There are no puzzles to figure out, no who-done-it, no gore, no offensive language; it was just a pleasant way to spend a little bit of your time. Now, with having said all that...there are several characters that are cliche' and way over-the-top, also the movie is quite predictable.
Vardalos looked absolutely stunning in the movie, and I found her character to be more charming as the movie chugged along, but it was Richard Dreyfuss' character that really brought heart and great acting to this movie.
He even got me teary-eyed at one point.
