Review of My Life (1993) by Marc-André M — 15 Mar 2008
One of the most touching movies I have ever seen. As dramatic as the subject is,the movie's surprisingly light and heartwarming. Micheal Keaton once again proves how good of an actor he really is with a wonderfully touching performance.
Nicole Kidman also does a good job as Keaton's supporting wife. But one of the most interesting element of the movie is its concept, which consists of Keaton's character filming himself in order for his soon-to-be born child to get to know who he was after he dies.
In the course of this journey, Keaton's character is forced to deal and come to terms with his own fears, mistakes and regrets. The movie might have been just another boring, over-the-top melodramatic wreck, but thanks to the numerous good performances, the intelligent script and the editing and the cinematography.
The movie becomes a truly memorable experience that is a genuine tearjerker by the end. This is the kind of movie that makes you really realize how precious life is,and how much we should truly try to enjoy it as much as we could.
