Review of My Kid Could Paint That (2007) by Tracy B — 19 May 2008
Very interesting film. It raises many questions regarding the art market world. The film starts off about a girl and her paintings. Then, the question of authenticity comes up about her skills. Is it really her painting the paintings or is she getting help? Is she a genious or an average kid? One other major question is the value of modern art.
Why is modern art art? Also, the truth of media is drawn into the document. What is real? What is someone's point of view? etc. etc. An aspect I found really sad is the human interest part of the film.
The family, the parents, the grown ups, everyone who has sway over this little girl. She had no say about her "chosen career".
