Review of My Kid Could Paint That (2007) by Jeff O — 18 Jun 2008
So many great questions are raised by this documentary. A little girl goes from prodigy to pariah, while her art goes from "belonging in a museum" to somehow fraudulent, all based on the opinion of a woman who saw some video on "60 Minutes." For me, the reactions of the people around the family were as fascinating as the central story.
Amir Bar-Lev did a great job injecting some of his own humanity and doubts into the narrative without overwhelming the story (as happens with Michael Moore or Morgan Spurlock).
