Review of My Fair Lady (1964) by Zhexiang W — 01 Dec 2008
Perhaps the most anticipated movie at the time since Gone with the Wind in 1939, My Fair Lady was created with an enormous budget but was cursed by the controversy over the choosing of Audrey Hepburn rather than Julie Andrews to play the female lead, Eliza Dolittle.
M.F.L. had good musical selections and impeccable acting. I agree with those who claimed it was too long, but I feel the ending was fine. Too bad Audrey didn't sing. It kinda killed her career. Rex Harrison seemed natural in the play while Audrey held up her end in terms of acting.
Overall, it was worth watching.
