Review of My Fair Lady (1964) by Chance F — 22 Feb 2011
At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like this film. I don't like musicals to begin with, but then they had to throw in the "talk-songs" which I like much, much less than actual singing.
But the art direction and costumes were breathtaking. And the acting was quite good, although it did have some moments of being too over-the-top. Also, at points, Audrey Hepburn's shrill, annoying Cockney accent was a bit too shrill and harsh, but that, I think, is to blame on the sound technology available in 1964.
Nevertheless, an excellent film, for a musical.
