Review of My Fair Lady (1964) by Meta K — 29 Dec 2008
A beautifully made movie. I loved Audrey Hepburn's portrayal of Eliza Doolittle. Although I would have had to take her out and give her some pie because she looked thin to the point of terminally ill in the scenes at the Ball. **********SPOILER*****************************************.
The end was totally dissapointing. The arrogant, rude, misogynist, Henry Higgins treats her like dirt all the way through to the end of the movie. And despite having the world as her oyster, the opportunity to be independent and to have almost anything she wanted, she goes crawling back to the nasty little man at the end who has her collecting his slippers for him before she is barely in the door. She should have walked away and become the great woman she was, not stayed to be a wife to a creepy old man that was old enough to be her grandfather.
