Review of My Dinner with Andre (1981) by Josh G — 28 Sep 2009
When Wallace said at the beginning of the film that he was avoiding having dinner with Andre, it's probably because Andre won't shut the hell up. This film is a product of its time, re-assuring self-centered hippie baby boomers that they were indeed the most important people in the world. Andre is a boring pretentious air-bag that mostly enjoys the sound of his own voice. And I want to punch him in the mouth every time he mentions Nazism and the Holocaust.
Well... I started writing that 20 minutes before the end of the film, and Wallace Shawn totally calls him out on it. Redemption.
But, Andre is still a pretentious fuck.
