Review of My Darling Clementine (1946) by Chris C — 12 Oct 2007
The best film John Ford ever made.
And, personally, I think that is because it doesn't have John Wayne in it! Sacrilegious for a huge fan of Westerns (like me) to say that, I know; but, I have never been a fan of "The Duke". He was in some great films, to be sure (RIO BRAVO, STAGECOACH, etc.)--but, frankly, I think those films would have been just as great no matter who played Wayne's part. This movie is one of the greatest Westerns ever made. As historically accurate as having a telephone on the wall during the Civil War---but, nonetheless a brilliant bit of cinema art!
