Review of My Darling Clementine (1946) by Pravin A — 11 Feb 2011
A fantastic version of the Wyatt Earp story at the O.K. Corral, Henry Fonda's all-American presence makes him wonderful to see in Earp's boots, and Victor Mature's magnificent face makes for a memorable Doc Holliday, even though the role practically belongs to Val Kilmer at this point.
Having seen more of Ford's films, it's interesting to watch how he uses certain things in many of his films over and over again in his exercises in American myth construction. Ford's film exemplify how art could thrive even accidentally in the studio system.
