Good: Gorey deaths, a few creative deaths although the weapons could vary a little more.

Bad: I found the plot to be quite predictable, the acting is really hokey, the explanation for the twist is really weird and doesn't make all that much sense.

Although the movie started out very enjoyable I found it went quite downhill as it continued. It began with story that was somewhat unique. The whole slasher thing at this point as a genre is not, but I have never seen a miner be the serial killer. But as it went on I found the plot quite predictable. I could easily guess the top two possibilities in my head, and then could guess which would be it. I will admit at the end they did mess with your head a little bit, but overall predictable. I did like the deaths, although once again as the movie went on they started to lose their touch. All of the deaths, except for one, involve a pickaxe. Most of which also involve the poor victim's head. The amount of gore still makes them exciting, but changing it up could have more. The acting is really bad for the most part in this movie. Even the best actors still manage to be average. The reason for the killer murdering people doesn't make very much sense when you think about it. One final note is that while watching this I got a feeling of a step forward for horror as this movie contained footage that was previously not allowed when the government stepped in during the slasher scare. It is good to see the footage be returned for the viewing public. So overall, it isn't a bad movie, but could have been much better than it was. If you watch this just expecting blood and killing then you'll enjoy it much more. When I see the original my review may change judged by how that was.
