Review of My Bloody Valentine (2009) by Claire B — 17 May 2010
What a terrible idea for a horror film. Awfully executed and overly predictable. I literally figured out who the killer was about 30 minutes in. It wasn't even very gory in a fun or stylized way. The pick-axe got old after a while.
.. I mean, there are only so many ways you can kill someone with a pointy object. The killer's costume wasn't nearly as scary as it should have or could have been and the naked lady death scene was unapologetically gratuitous and tacky.
The attempt to throw off viewers as to who the real killer is with flimsy blame throwing is pathetic at best and Ackles was not talented or believable enough to pull it off. Granted, he didn't have much of a script or even concept to work with.
However, I really do love Kerr Smith so I am thankful to this movie for giving him an acting role so I could see him but that is about all the gratitude I can spare for this waste of time.
