"My Bloody Valentine" is one of the most notorious 80's slasher flicks and rightfully so. It knows many of the slasher movie cliches and fools the audience by going in different directions.

The plot is as simple as any slasher movie plot, A group of miners are trapped in a mine when the foremen take off early to attend the town's Valentine's Day dance. Only one miner survives, Harry Warden, who survived by eating the other miners.

He's sent to a mental institution but escapes the next year on Valentine's Day to kill the foremen who left early that night. 20 years later, the town has recovered from the tragedy and have prepared another Valentine's Day dance, however when townsfolk start getting killed, the town sheriff races to stop the killer before more people die.

Released in 1981, "My Bloody Valentine" came out when the slasher genre was still fairly young and by today's standards, it doesn't stick out as much as it did when it came out. However it is nevertheless a well done horror movie with gory kills, some genuine scares, and likable characters.

The twist at the end is also well executed and unexpected. "My Bloody Valentine" is a classic 80's horror movie that while not as special as it was when it came out, is still worth watching for horror film fans.
