Review of My Beautiful Laundrette (1985) by Kiana F — 29 Sep 2008
At the core there is a decent (albeit political) story about class and ethnicity and commerce in England. Unfortunately, the film tried to layer too many "edgy political commentary" on top of and around the story to the point where the third act is a complete mess.
It was a good movie for the first hour until I started having to say "huh?" at every twist and turn even though the anti-climactic street fight sequence was all too inevitable. What a waste.
