Review of My American Uncle (1980) by Jacob G — 06 Dec 2011
Like other Resnais films I've seen, Mon Oncle d'Amerique is confusing yet awe-inspiring. Not quite up to the grandeur of Last Year At Marienbad (a top-5 all-time film for me), but a stunning character(s) sketch that weaves in psychology and evolution into an interesting bundle.
It takes patience, perhaps even more-so than Last Year, but it reaps its rewards.
