It's impossible to sum up the universe of Mutant Chronicles in just one film so we only have glimpse of it here. Even with such a limited scope, it's not easy to recreate it under the constraints of a low budget.
The "Avalon/Skycaptain" visual is a good trick to make it possible. The rest, from the cast to the story and the action, is fairly decent.
